Ruth Gilbert Room 45 - Track 3
I am originally from Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State and got my Masters from University of California. My husband joined the Air Force and our travels began! I have been lucky to teach in several places in the United States and Europe. We will probably stay here. I told my husband I won't live north of the Mason Dixon line (Michigan!). It's too cold!!

I have two wonderful sons and an even more wonderful granddaughter. They live in Michigan and South Carolina so we travel to see them as often as possible.

I love teaching third grade! We have a lot of fun and learn many things. Third graders are inquisitive and eager to share their ideas. It's going to be a very good year! Things don't get any better than that!

Barbra Konrad
Barbra Konrad Room 47 - Track 1
Mrs. Konrad grew up in the midwestern state of Wisconsin which is where she completed her K-12 education. She went on to major in Business and French and minor in Art at Minnesota's Winona State. From there, she and her husband moved to the fabulous climate of Las Vegas. Not satisfied with her first career, Mrs. Konrad went back to school to become a teacher. She believes in a hands on type of learning environment with many opportunities for extension activities based on the students' abilities and interests. At home, Mrs. Konrad and her husband are raising a tenacious toddler named Ella and a bouncing baby boy named Jaiden. Mrs. Konrad's hobbies include photography, playing volleyball and softball, traveling with her family, and reading.

I am excited to be teaching third grade this year. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. I had the privelege of being at home with my four children for several years and did a little substitute teaching. I have taught kindergarten for the past two years at Brookman. I am excited about a change of pace and look forward to the learning that will take place this year, both for me and my students. I enjoy children's literature and look forward to sharing some great books with my class. I hope to impress upon my students the importance and love of life-long learning. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my four children (three of them attend school here). I enjoy cooking and baking. I also enjoy reading and playing board games(especially word games). I am looking forward to another terrific year at Brookman.

Tina Nelson
Tina Nelson Room 75 - Track 5
As the wife of an USAF Officer, never did I dream, as I entered the dual career of wife and teacher, that I would experience such diversified teaching positions as I have since our marriage in June of 1979.

Our travels have taken us from the deserts of Nevada and New Mexico to the oceans of Southern California and South Korea, with stops in Alabama and Texas.

Since the age of thirteen, my desire has been to teach. That desire has led me from public to private schools; substitute to full-time positions; summer jobs to school terms; recreational activities to academics; kindergarten to eighth; and, volunteer to employee.

My husband, a high school counselor, retired from the Air Force 10 years ago, and we moved to Las Vegas (my hometown) to raise our children, Robert, 21, and Desiree, 14, near family. We also returned so that I could pursue "my dream"- to teach in 'one place' for 20 or more years and retire as a public school teacher.

I am a UNLV graduate and this 2006-2007 School Year begins my 5th year at Brookman and 11th year with the Clark County School District.

Chris Wilkins
Chris Wilkins Room 42 - Track 5
Although I was born in Price, Utah, Las Vegas has been my home since I was in the third grade! I attended J.M. Ullom Elementary, K.O. Knudson Junior High, and Valley High School. My husband, Cody and I have four children; Kari, Kip, KC, and Carly. We also have thirteen grandchildren, with fourteen due to arrive in February! I graduated from UNLV with my BS the same year I became a grandmother. I also received my Master's degree from UNLV.

I have taught eight years, the last four years at Brookman Elementary (lucky me). I love traveling, hiking, sewing, reading, and of course, teaching. I feel very lucky to work with the wonderful staff and families of Eileen Brookman Elementary.
