I have lived in Las Vegas for the past 12 years. I graduated from Elko High School in northern Nevada. I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah. I received my Master's degree in educational administration at UNLV. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and GATE for third through fifth grades. I have a husband, James, a son, Chris, and a daughter, Abigail. In my free time I LOVE to read, do counted cross stitching, and spend time with my family. I am looking forward to working with another wonderful group of students this year!

Melissa Brennan
Melissa Brennan - Primary Resource Room 72
Hello, Brookman Families! This is my fourth year teaching primary resource at Brookman, and I am looking forward to another exciting year of learning. I am originally from Philadelphia and came to Las Vegas with Teach for America in 2005. Before I knew I wanted to teach elementary school, I got a Master's in German from Georgetown University and had the opportunity to live (and play!) in Austria for two years. In 2007, I completed my Master's in Special Education at UNLV and have been enjoying applying those skills ever since. In my free time, I love to travel, try new restaurants, and play with my energetic Jack Russell. I’ve enjoyed being part of the Brookman community, and I know that together we can make this another wonderful year!

I was actually born right here in Las Vegas. However, I moved to Texas when I was one and lived there until I returned to Las Vegas for college. I graduated with a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree right here at UNLV. I have been teaching for Clark County for 17 years and I can't imagine doing anything else. I love what I do!

I live right here in Brookman's zone and often see my students out in the community. I live with my husband Joe and my daughters Kylie Jo and Camdyn. I look forward to seeing them grow and become Brookman Builders!

When I have time I like to take classes and scrapbook. I am also a big fan of reading and would love for my students to share my passion for books!

Ryse Lawrence
Ryse Lawrence - ECS Room 32
Hi! I’m Ryse Lawrence, the ECS at Brookman. The initials ECS actually stand for Educational Computer Strategist, but the students all know me as the Computer Lady! =D Brookman shares me with one other school, Goldfarb Elementary. My job entails working with teachers and students to integrate technology into the curriculum as well as maintain the school network and computers. This is my fourth year as an ECS. Prior to that, I taught for 13 years. I’ve taught multi-grade 3rd/4th, 4th/5th as well as 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I went to UNLV for my undergrad work in Regular Elementary and Special Education and graduated from Lesley University with a Master’s in Technology. Last year, I worked with several classes to create projects in PhotoStory, PowerPoint, and KidPix. I'm hoping to do even more with a larger number of students as well as get an opportunity to teach some video-editing to both teachers and students. On a personal note, I've been married to a wonderful man, Rick, for 19 years and we have a son, Ryan, who's just starting high school this year. He'll be at SECTA (the old Vo-Tech). We enjoy hiking, climbing, and going off-roading.

Bonnie Pruneda
Bonnie Pruneda - Counselor Room 28
I am really happy to be starting my second year here at Brookman. I wondered how long it would take for me to adjust to the elementary level after having taught for 12 years at the secondary level here in Las Vegas but I can tell you that from day one-- I knew this was the place for me!!! I have loved every minute working with the Brookman students, from talking about how to solve small problems with the Kindergarteners to getting the 5th graders ready for middle school.

I LOVE being a mom of two sweet, fun children. Playing and hanging out with them is a big part of my time.

Things I enjoy doing when I'm not working are traveling to different places, cooking/baking, practicing my Spanish w/new people, watching movies, reading, playing wallyball and volleyball, watching all kinds of sports esp. during March Madness, and being with my family and friends.
