Hello friends and family of our own Brookman Builders! My name is Alisa Atherton and I have the priviledge of teaching 2nd grade this year.
My husband and I have enjoyed living in Las Vegas for the past six years. We moved from Castaic, California, where I taught elementary school for four years. We are raising four incredible daughters, two of which attend Brookman Elementary.
I have enjoyed being a guest teacher for the past few years, spending most of my time at Brookman Elementary. Before becoming a guest teacher, I served on the P.T.A. board for three years. I have come to admire and appreciate the commitment and dedication with which our school administrators, teachers, and support staff perform their jobs. My children, and yours, are receiving a quality education from caring and professional individuals. I am thrilled to join the staff of Brookman Elementary and I look forward to a successful year with my class. |

This school year will be my second year of teaching, and I absolutely love being in the classroom with the students. The students are very important to me and teaching makes for a great reward at the end of the day. I am very excited about another great school year with your children.
I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Las Vegas with my family when I was 11 years old. I graduated from Las Vegas High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Since I was young I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I love teaching and making a difference in a child’s life.
Things I love: taking pictures* scrapbooking* pink* flip flops*going to the lake* snowboarding* beaches*music* *smiling*shopping* my two nephews (Nathan and Peyton)* Target*

| I was born and raised in Hawaii and I now reside in Las Vegas. I have my bachelors in English from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which is where I also played soccer. I am currently pursuing my masters in elementary education at UNLV. I love the ocean and grew up surfing and doing all sorts of water sports. I love traveling. I have 3 big Italian Mastiffs that weigh over a 100 pounds. This will be my very first year of teaching and I am excited to start my journey. |

| Even though I grew up in Arizona, I have lived in Las Vegas for 16 years. So this feels like home. I am a graduate of UNLV and this is my 14th year teaching. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I have been at Brookman since it opened in 2002. One of my favorite things about teaching is watching children grow in academics and personality over the course of a year. I value reading immensely. Being a confident reader allows you so many choices in life and leisure. If you can read you can learn anything! One of my favorite books is I'm in Charge of Celebrations by Byrd Baylor. This books reminds us that we are in charge of our outlook in life! When I'm not at school I love to spend time with my husband and children, scrapbook, tole paint, sew, read (of course), cook, and so much more! |
